In a heartwarming display of camaraderie that defies political boundaries, senior CPM leader K Suresh Kurup recently attended the election photoshoot of his longtime friend and CMP leader C P John. This event, held at a resort in Changanassery, Kottayam district, highlights a personal bond that has endured despite their affiliations with opposing political fronts in Kerala.
A Historic Friendship Rooted in Shared Past
The connection between Kurup and John dates back to their early political careers. In the 1980s, Kurup served as the state president of the Students' Federation of India (SFI), while John was the state secretary. Their professional paths diverged in 1986 when John left to join the CMP, a party founded by M V Raghavan. Despite this political split, their personal friendship has remained steadfast over the decades.
Creative Collaboration in Election Campaign
The photoshoot was organized by S Radhakrishnan, a mutual friend and creative director of the Kottayam-based advertising firm Creative Minds. Radhakrishnan, who has been designing posters for Kurup since his historic maiden win in the 1984 Parliament elections, explained the significance of Kurup's presence. "When I informed Kurup about the photoshoot, he immediately expressed his willingness to accompany me and support John," Radhakrishnan stated. During the session, Kurup actively participated by offering relevant suggestions to enhance the poster designs for John's upcoming campaign.

K Suresh Kurup has had a distinguished political journey, being elected to the Lok Sabha four times and to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in both 2011 and 2016. His consistent electoral success and long-standing involvement in Kerala politics underscore his influence within the CPM.
