Kodagu Officials Directed for Monsoon Preparedness

Madikeri: Kodagu district nodal secretary NV Prasad instructed officials to make necessary preparations for the upcoming monsoon season. He reviewed monsoon preparedness at the Ponnampet taluk panchayat on Tuesday.

Precautionary Measures

"Necessary precautions should be taken in sensitive areas of the district, and information should be provided to families in flood-affected areas," Prasad said. He emphasized that all kinds of basic amenities must be provided at care centres. He directed officials to complete the renovation of school and anganwadi buildings in the district that are in a dilapidated condition to ensure no mishaps occur.

Drinking Water and Infrastructure

The meeting discussed completed works and problems related to drinking water supply. Prasad asked officials to complete the incomplete works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme. With the onset of monsoon, the agriculture department advised farmers to obtain adequate information about fertilisers, seeds, urea, and agricultural machinery to avoid any problems.

Helpline and Nodal Officers

Deputy commissioner SJ Somashekhar informed the meeting that all kinds of preparations have already been made in the district, a helpline centre has been opened, and nodal officers have been assigned. He said that all precautionary measures have been taken for the monsoon season.

Departmental Progress

The progress of various departments, including animal husbandry and horticulture, was discussed in the meeting. Officials present included ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena, deputy conservator of forests Jagannath NH, Virajpet tahsildar Praveen Kumar, Ponnampet tahsildar CS Sanjana, Virajpet TP EO Rajesh KR, Madikeri TP EO Shekhar, and others.
