Lucknow Municipal Corporation Announces Strict Measures for House Tax Defaulters
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has issued a stern warning to property owners regarding house tax payments, declaring that a significant 12% interest penalty will be imposed on all defaulters who fail to meet the March 31 deadline. Municipal authorities have emphasized that strict legal and administrative action will be taken against those who continue to delay their payments beyond this cutoff date.
Comprehensive Awareness Campaign Launched in Zone-3
In a proactive effort to ensure maximum compliance, the municipal body initiated an extensive public awareness drive this past Sunday, specifically targeting residents in Zone-3 of the city. The campaign aims to thoroughly inform citizens about the impending deadline and the severe financial consequences of missing it, thereby helping them avoid unnecessary penalties.
The innovative awareness rally utilized a fleet of e-rickshaws and sanitation vehicles, traversing across six key wards: Lala Lajpat Rai, Mahanagar, Vivekanandpuri, Daliganj, and Nirala Nagar. This mobile outreach strategy was designed to directly engage with taxpayers in their neighborhoods, providing clear instructions and reminders about the payment obligations.
Extended Office Hours During Major Festivals
Recognizing the potential challenges taxpayers might face during upcoming religious observances, the LMC has implemented special measures to facilitate payments. All zonal offices, including the crucial Zone-3 office, will maintain extended operational hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, even during the significant festivals of Navratri and Eid.
This exceptional accommodation demonstrates the corporation's commitment to ensuring taxpayers have ample opportunity to settle their dues without festival-related disruptions. Municipal officials have urged property owners to take advantage of these extended hours to complete their transactions and avoid the substantial 12% interest charge that will automatically apply to any overdue amounts after March 31.
The combination of rigorous enforcement measures and taxpayer-friendly initiatives underscores the LMC's balanced approach to revenue collection while maintaining public service priorities during important cultural and religious periods.
