West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a fresh offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, alleging systematic bias and manipulation in the ongoing electoral process. Addressing a public rally in Pingla, Paschim Medinipur district, the Trinamool Congress supremo condemned what she described as selective application of rules to benefit the BJP.
Allegations of Electoral Discrepancy
Banerjee specifically targeted the Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls process, claiming that the term "logical discrepancy" used during the exercise lacks official recognition within the Election Commission's framework. "This so-called logical discrepancy is being weaponized only in West Bengal, while states like Bihar are spared," she asserted, suggesting a deliberate attempt to tilt the playing field in favor of the BJP.
The chief minister did not mince words when characterizing her political opponents. "I have never witnessed a party as dirty as the BJP in my entire political career," she declared, escalating the war of words that has dominated the election season.
Call to Action for Voters
In her impassioned appeal to voters, Banerjee framed the upcoming election as an opportunity for retribution. "The BJP has systematically snatched everything from you—your rights, your dignity, your resources. Casting your vote against them is your only legitimate form of revenge," she proclaimed to the gathered crowd.
She further alleged that the BJP was artificially inflating rally attendance by organizing events near railway connections to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, facilitating the transportation of supporters from those states to create an illusion of popular support.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee had launched another broadside against the BJP through social media, sharing video footage from her rallies across Birbhum, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, and Bankura districts. In her post, she expressed unwavering confidence in the TMC's prospects, stating, "My brothers and sisters are my greatest asset—the source of my strength and the backbone of everything we have built together over fifteen years."
She made a veiled reference to opposition forces working to "divide and humiliate" the people of West Bengal while stripping away democratic rights. "Those conspiring to malign our state and exploit our people will not succeed as long as we stand united," she emphasized.
Appeal for Cross-Community Unity
Banerjee issued a powerful call for solidarity across demographic lines, urging voters from every caste, creed, class, and religion to unite against what she termed "Bangla-Birodhi Zamindars"—a phrase translating to "anti-Bengali landlords" that she used to characterize her political opponents.
She specifically appealed for support for TMC candidates across multiple constituencies, naming nominees from Suri, Bolpur, Rampurhat, Labpur, Ausgram, Galsi, Durgapur Purba, Durgapur Paschim, Asansol Uttar, Jamuria, Pandabeswar, and Bankura.

West Bengal is scheduled to conduct polling in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with results to be announced on May 4.
