Mannargudi MLA Kamaraj defends support to CM Vijay after expulsion

Trichy: Mannargudi MLA S Kamaraj has stated that he extended his support to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's government during the assembly floor test after being expelled from the AMMK party. He asserted that he no longer needed to seek permission from anyone. Kamaraj also denied allegations of his involvement in horse trading.

Kamaraj's explanation

Speaking to reporters at his office in Mannargudi on Monday, Kamaraj said, "It is customary for representatives of various parties to congratulate the new government. I too extended my congratulations to the Chief Minister." He explained that he learned of his expulsion from AMMK only after coming out of his meeting with Vijay, as his mobile phones were left in his car. "I received information that I had been removed from the party. Therefore, I did not need to seek permission from anyone to cast my vote," he added.

Vote in favor of Vijay's government

Kamaraj further stated that he voted in favor of Vijay's government. "When such an opportunity arose, since I was not in any party and had no restrictions, I extended my support to Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. I believe there is nothing wrong in this," he said.
