Union Minister Appeals for Swift Resolution of Hyderabad Infrastructure Project

Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has formally written to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, seeking urgent intervention to complete the long-pending land acquisition required for the service road beneath the Amberpet crossroads flyover in Hyderabad. The critical infrastructure project, built at a cost of ₹265 crore, remains partially incomplete due to unresolved land issues.

Details of the Amberpet Flyover Project

The 1.5-kilometer, four-lane flyover on National Highway-163 (previously NH-202) was constructed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways with the primary objective of easing traffic congestion and reducing travel time in Hyderabad. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the flyover on May 5, 2025.

Despite the flyover being operational, the service road underneath remains unfinished because the necessary land acquisition has not been finalized. This incomplete component continues to cause significant inconvenience to commuters along this important corridor.

Historical Context and Previous Efforts

The project was originally sanctioned in 2018, and the land acquisition delays have persisted for years. Minister Kishan Reddy revealed that this issue was previously raised with former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and has been brought to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's attention on multiple occasions.

Union Minister Gadkari has also repeatedly taken up the matter with state authorities, emphasizing the importance of completing this infrastructure project. "The matter has been pursued at various administrative levels, yet the issue remains unresolved," Kishan Reddy noted in his letter.

Financial and Administrative Challenges

Interestingly, ₹2.54 crore has already been disbursed as compensation for the land acquisition, but bureaucratic bottlenecks continue to hinder progress. The Union minister has personally followed up with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner and other officials, but the deadlock persists.

In his appeal to the chief minister, Kishan Reddy urged immediate directives to the GHMC and the state Roads and Buildings Department to resolve all pending issues and ensure the early completion of the service road works. The completion of this component is essential for realizing the flyover's full potential in alleviating Hyderabad's traffic problems.
