Karnataka Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah visited Chamundi Hill in Mysuru on Tuesday and offered prayers at the Chamundeshwari temple, seeking divine blessings for the state. The minister, who is also the son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, performed special rituals at the hilltop shrine, which is dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, the family deity of the Mysuru royal family.
Prayers for Good Rains and Harvest
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that he prayed to the Goddess for good rains and a bountiful harvest in Karnataka. He expressed hope that the monsoon would be favorable this year, ensuring adequate water for agriculture and drinking purposes. The visit comes amid concerns over delayed monsoon in some parts of the state.
Significance of the Visit
Chamundi Hill, located about 13 km from Mysuru city, is one of the most prominent religious sites in Karnataka. The temple atop the hill attracts thousands of devotees daily. The minister's visit is seen as a gesture to seek divine intervention for the state's agricultural prosperity, especially in the wake of recent drought-like conditions in some regions.
The minister was accompanied by local officials and party workers. He also inspected the ongoing development works on the hill and directed officials to expedite the completion of pending projects for the convenience of pilgrims.
