Expressing deep emotional connection to her home state, President Murmu stated in Odia, "Maa ti mora kede nijara" (this soil is mine), as she recalled her journey from a humble village in Mayurbhanj to the nation's highest constitutional position. This address marked the first time a sitting President has spoken in the Odisha Legislative Assembly since its establishment.
Murmu, who served as an MLA and minister in the assembly between 2000 and 2009, grew nostalgic during her speech. "I have addressed many state assemblies and even foreign parliaments, but speaking in Odisha Vidhan Sabha is special. This House taught me everything — how to behave politically, how to present issues. My foundation was laid here," she emotionally shared.
