A disturbing incident of matricide has emerged from Mysuru district, where a 48-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son on suspicion of infidelity. The police have arrested four family members, including the woman's son, for committing the murder and attempting to destroy evidence to mislead the investigation.
Details of the Incident
The incident was reported from Madalli village under the jurisdiction of Jayapura police station. Mysuru Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi identified the deceased as Sudha, 48. Her son, Veerabhadra, 32, allegedly attacked and killed her near their house while she was working on Sunday morning.
Motive Behind the Murder
According to sources, around three months ago, some villagers allegedly saw Sudha travelling on a motorcycle with an unidentified man and informed Veerabhadra about it. Disturbed by this incident, Veerabhadra warned his mother, police said. However, the suspicion continued to fester, and on Sunday morning, he grew furious and struck her on the head with a sharp object, leading to her death.
Attempt to Destroy Evidence
Two of Veerabhadra's cousins, who noticed Sudha bleeding, rushed her to a hospital. However, she died on the way. In an attempt to avoid legal action, the family allegedly brought the body back home and cremated it, thereby destroying crucial evidence. This act was intended to mislead the police and cover up the crime.
Police Action and Investigation
After learning about the incident, the Jayapura police registered a case. Senior police officials visited the village and conducted a thorough investigation. The arrested individuals include Veerabhadra and three other family members who were complicit in the murder and subsequent cover-up. They have been charged with murder and destruction of evidence.

Sudha is survived by her husband, a son, and two married daughters. The family was residing in Madalli village, and the incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any further details.
