During a departmental review meeting chaired by municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar on Monday, officials disclosed that out of 17,981 sanctioned positions, only 9,322 employees are currently in place. Commissioner's Directive for Immediate Action

Taking serious note of the alarming situation, Commissioner Vipin Itankar issued urgent directives to address the staffing shortfall. He instructed officials to immediately initiate the recruitment process for all vacant posts and prepare comprehensive proposals for pending appointments.

Furthermore, Itankar emphasized the need to pursue the state government for officers on deputation, as the civic body requires approximately 19 officers from the state cadre to strengthen its administrative framework.

Deputy commissioner Nirbhay Jain provided detailed insights into the corporation's organizational structure, revealing that the NMC operates with 205 cadres spanning Class 1 to Class 4 categories under the revised framework. Commissioner Itankar specifically directed officials to prepare and expedite proposals regarding hiring processes that are currently pending at the state level.
