Nashik Zilla Parishad Launches Emergency Water Supply to 22 Villages in Yeola Taluka
In a critical response to escalating water scarcity, the Nashik Zilla Parishad has mobilized its first fleet of 13 water tankers to deliver drinking water to 22 villages located in Yeola taluka. This urgent intervention follows the formal approval granted by the sub-divisional officer of Yeola Nandgaon, who verified the pressing demand from the affected communities.
Addressing Immediate Water Shortages After Wells Run Dry
Block development officer Sandeep Wayal emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, "These villages represent the initial group in Yeola taluka that have urgently requested drinking water via tankers, as their traditional wells have completely dried up." The process began when villagers submitted their demands to the local gram panchayat, which were then systematically forwarded through the sub-divisional officer for official sanction.
Officials highlighted that while alternative measures, such as acquiring wells with remaining water, are typically considered, the current crisis has rendered such options ineffective. A senior officer explained, "Groundwater levels have plummeted across all wells in these regions, leading to a acute water shortage that is severely impacting daily life." This deployment marks a proactive step to mitigate the hardship faced by residents, with further assessments underway to address the broader water management challenges in the area.
