NMC Finalizes All Preparations for Nashik Elections

The Nashik Municipal Corporation finalized all major administrative preparations on Wednesday for the Thursday elections. The corporation ensured smooth and efficient polling across all booths in the city.

Polling Material Distribution Completed

Distribution of polling material wrapped up on Wednesday. This marked the final stage of readiness for voting across 122 seats in 31 wards. The city will use 1,563 polling stations for the elections.

"Electronic voting machines, including control units and ballot units, were dispatched to polling teams," an official said. "Essential polling material went to ten designated distribution centers under election authority supervision."

Orderly and Transparent Process

Officials confirmed the distribution process completed on schedule. They conducted operations in an orderly and transparent manner. Election staff and security personnel monitored the entire process.

"All machines underwent mandatory technical checks," the official explained. "Sealing procedures followed established guidelines precisely."

Special Facilities for Voters

Model polling stations and pink booths appeared at select locations. These arrangements followed State Election Commission directives to enhance the voting experience.

"We arranged facilities like ramps, wheelchairs, help desks and drinking water," another NMC official stated. "These provisions assist women, senior citizens and persons with disabilities."

Security Measures Implemented

Adequate police personnel received deployment at every polling booth. Authorities heightened security at sensitive locations. These measures ensure peaceful and intimidation-free voting throughout Nashik.

The corporation readied 4,860 ballot units and 1,800 control units for polling. This total includes reserve machines for contingency situations.

Staff Assignments and Training

As many as 8,800 officers and staff members received election duty assignments across Nashik. Officials checked all polling stations for connectivity, security measures and essential amenities. This completed the final phase of preparations before voting begins.

Returning officers conducted final training sessions before handing over EVMs. Presiding and polling officers attended sessions at all ten centers. Training covered multiple critical areas.

Comprehensive Training Program

"We covered EVM handling and mock poll protocols," an official noted. "Sealing procedures and mandatory polling-day documentation formed part of the training. We also reviewed material distribution and scrutiny norms."

Staff members received clear instructions about several important procedures. They must enforce the ban on cellphones inside polling booths. They need to manage queues efficiently while ensuring voter convenience. All personnel must strictly adhere to the model code of conduct.

Observer Inspection and Approval

Election observer S P Singh and assistant election observer Balasaheb Kolekar inspected facilities earlier on Wednesday. They examined distribution centers, strong rooms, transport arrangements and counting facilities.

The observers issued necessary instructions during their inspection tour. They expressed satisfaction with the overall preparations for Nashik's municipal elections.
