Pune: The Wadgaon Nimbalkar police on Saturday arrested a 47-year-old farmer, his second wife, and their 21-year-old son on charges of murder. The trio is accused of bludgeoning to death the man's 31-year-old son from his first marriage. The incident occurred late on Friday night in Jogwadi village, Baramati taluka, approximately 44 kilometers from Pune city.
Details of the Incident
The deceased has been identified as Suraj Gulumkar, a resident of Jogwadi. According to Assistant Police Inspector Nagnath Patil of the Wadgaon Nimbalkar police, preliminary investigations revealed that the motive behind the murder was a long-standing family dispute. Gulumkar frequently beat his stepmother, which led to the fatal confrontation.
Sequence of Events
Patil stated that Gulumkar had been living with his father, stepmother, and stepbrother. There was an ongoing dispute over the share of their farmland. Around 9:30 PM on Friday, Gulumkar began assaulting his stepmother once again. His father and stepbrother intervened, and the three of them pushed him down. They then beat him to death using tiles.
Legal Action
The police have arrested the trio under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the case.
