Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Thursday criticised the AAP-led government over power cuts, questioning the timing of maintenance work during peak summer. In a post on X, Jakhar said electricity was being shut down across the state in the name of infrastructure maintenance and asked why such work was not carried out in February or March.
Power cuts disrupt daily life
Jakhar also flagged the absence of a regular chairman in the power corporation, asking who was taking key decisions. He said despite the availability of cheaper solar power during the day, supply remained affected. He claimed the outages were impacting daily life, businesses, and industry.
CM on foreign visit
Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is currently on a foreign visit, Jakhar questioned the government's priorities. He emphasised that the people of Punjab are suffering due to unplanned power cuts, while the chief minister is away.
The BJP leader's remarks have reignited the political debate over power management in the state, with opposition parties demanding immediate action to resolve the crisis.
