Punjab BJP chief warns AAP against illegal means in polls

Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Sunday warned the AAP-led Punjab government against using any illegal means to win the May 26 local body elections. He was reacting to remarks by AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Bazigar about shutting polling booth doors.

Jakhar said the statement reflected AAP's fear of defeat after four-and-a-half years of misgovernance. When a ruling party starts talking about undemocratic methods, it shows it has already lost public support, he said.

Alleging deterioration in law and order, Jakhar claimed corruption, goonda raj, and drug abuse had increased under the Bhagwant Mann government, leaving people feeling insecure.

Targeting the Congress as well, Jakhar described it as a vote-cutting party and accused its leaders of surrendering before AAP.

He urged voters to identify the cockroaches of corruption and elect the right candidates, claiming only the BJP could restore peace, curb drugs, and create employment opportunities in Punjab.
