Statewide Progress and Key Statistics
With only a week remaining for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Punjab has achieved over 97% voter coverage. According to the latest state performance report, out of 2.14 crore electors, 1.91 crore Enumeration Forms (EFs) have been digitised, representing an 89% digitisation rate. An additional 17.44 lakh electors are categorised as uncollectable, pushing overall coverage to 2.08 crore electors, or 97.13%. Only 6.15 lakh electors (2.87%) remain pending for digitisation.
The report also highlights that 15,982 polling parts (65.36%) have achieved 100% digitisation, while 6,901 polling parts have completed data uploading. Statewide, 2.08 crore EFs have been verified, accounting for 97.08% of electors, though 81,683 cases related to the 85-plus and ASD categories await verification.
Constituencies Leading the Exercise
Twenty-four Assembly constituencies have already completed the SIR exercise. These include Shutrana, Dhuri, Bhadaur, Dirba, Budhlada, Sardulgarh, Mansa, Jaitu, Kotkapura, Faridkot, Lambi, Firozpur Rural, Dharamkot, Moga, Bagha Purana, Nihal Singh Wala, Raikot, Balachaur, Nawan Shahr, Banga, Garhshankar, Sultanpur Lodhi, Patti, and Tarn Taran. Another 87 constituencies have crossed the 90% mark, leaving only a handful still below that threshold.
Ludhiana District Struggles but Progresses
Ludhiana district continues to face challenges despite steady progress. The district has 26.83 lakh electors, of whom 22.03 lakh EFs (82.11%) have been digitised. Around 2.86 lakh electors (10.66%) are uncollectable, bringing overall coverage to over 92.7%, while 1.94 lakh forms (7.23%) await digitisation. Additionally, 11,268 forms were submitted online, 603 rolled back for corrections, and 13,528 electors identified with ASD discrepancies.
Within Ludhiana, Raikot has achieved 100% coverage, followed by Payal (99.46%), Khanna (99.30%), Samrala (99.20%), Jagraon (97.89%), Dakha (96.52%), and Gill (95.29%). However, urban constituencies lag: Ludhiana North (78.24%) remains the only constituency below 80% in Punjab, while Ludhiana South (86.63%), West (87.04%), Central (87.12%), East (87.97%), Atam Nagar (88.53%), and Sahnewal (92.57%) still have significant work.
The report also notes that 4,250 online-submitted EFs await verification, and 6,313 forms have been rolled back for corrections. The overall verification rate stands at 97.08% of electors.
