In a sharp political offensive, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directly challenged the opposition Congress party to present a comparative account of development work executed during their tenure versus his government's performance. The Chief Minister issued this challenge during a public address in Ahore, located in the Jalore district, on Wednesday.
A Direct Challenge to the Opposition
Taking clear aim at the Congress, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma stated that opposing was the opposition's primary function. However, he demanded concrete data to back their criticism. "You oppose, for opposing is your job, but I say that if you have the figures, then tell me how much work you have done and how much work I have done," Sharma declared. The event was centered around the inauguration of multiple development projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and education in the region.
Mocking Queries on Promise Fulfillment
The Chief Minister also mocked Congress leaders for questioning his government's claim of having fulfilled 70% of its election promises. In a sarcastic retort, Sharma suggested that the opposition members might need vision correction. "I want to tell the Congress members: if you are unable to see, then go to the free camps (organised by BJP govt) and get your eyes checked. If necessary, spectacles will be provided to you as well," he said. He added that this would enable them to witness the development of the past two years, even if their mindset remained unchanged.
Key Projects Inaugurated in Jalore District
During his visit to Ahore and Jalore, Chief Minister Sharma inaugurated a significant slate of development initiatives. The projects are designed to enhance power supply, promote renewable energy, and improve educational facilities. The key announcements included:
- A new 33/11 KV electrical substation at Hemagudha to improve power infrastructure.
- A 4-megawatt solar power plant established under the central government's PM Kusum Yojana-C scheme.
- Development works for the government agriculture college in Keshwana to upgrade its facilities.
- A hostel dedicated to girls from backward classes in Sanchore, promoting access to education.
These projects underscore the state government's focus on regional development across critical sectors like energy, agriculture, and social welfare.
The political exchange highlights the ongoing tussle in Rajasthan politics, where the BJP government is keen to showcase its development agenda while the Congress seeks to hold it accountable. CM Sharma's assertive stance and the inauguration of tangible projects form part of the ruling party's strategy to build a narrative of proactive governance ahead of future electoral battles.
