Tecno has officially launched the Camon Slim, its latest mid-range smartphone, packing the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, a Sony LYT-600 primary camera, and an upgraded battery, according to the company's announcement on June 22, 2026.
Key Specifications and Features
The Tecno Camon Slim is powered by the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate processor, built on a 6nm process, offering up to 20% better performance and 15% improved power efficiency compared to its predecessor. The chip integrates an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, along with a Mali-G57 MC3 GPU for enhanced gaming and multitasking.
The device features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution (2400x1080 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate, supporting HDR10+ content. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7 and offers a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, making it usable under direct sunlight.
Camera System
In the camera department, the Camon Slim boasts a triple rear setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). This is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera is a 32-megapixel shooter housed in a punch-hole cutout, supporting 4K video recording at 30fps.
Tecno claims the Sony LYT-600 sensor offers improved low-light performance, with up to 40% better light sensitivity than previous sensors. The company also introduced an AI-enhanced night mode and a dedicated portrait mode with bokeh effects.
Battery and Charging
The smartphone is equipped with a 5,500mAh battery, a significant upgrade over the 5,000mAh cell in the previous model. It supports 45W fast charging via USB-C, which can charge the device from 0 to 50% in 25 minutes, according to Tecno. The device also supports 5W reverse wired charging for accessories.
Software and Memory
The Tecno Camon Slim runs on Android 16 with Tecno's HiOS 16 skin on top. The company promises two major Android updates and three years of security patches. The phone comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via a dedicated microSD card slot up to 1TB.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra sound, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS with A-GPS.
Pricing and Availability
The Tecno Camon Slim is priced at $299 (approximately ₹24,999) for the base 8GB/128GB variant and $349 (approximately ₹29,999) for the 12GB/256GB model. It will be available in three colors: Midnight Black, Aurora Blue, and Sunset Gold. The device goes on sale starting July 5, 2026, via Tecno's official website and major e-commerce platforms in select markets.
According to Tecno's Vice President of Product, Mr. Zhang Wei, "The Camon Slim redefines what users can expect from a mid-range smartphone, combining flagship-level camera technology with powerful performance and all-day battery life." The launch positions Tecno to compete with rivals like Xiaomi's Redmi Note series and Realme's number series in the budget-to-mid segment.
Impact and Market Position
The Camon Slim's launch comes at a time when the mid-range smartphone market is highly competitive, with brands vying for features like high-refresh-rate displays, large batteries, and capable cameras. The inclusion of the Sony LYT-600 sensor and Helio G200 Ultimate chip gives Tecno an edge in camera performance and processing power, respectively. Industry analysts expect the device to appeal to young professionals and students seeking a balanced smartphone experience without breaking the bank.
