Rajasthan Congress Unveils Statewide Campaign to Revamp Organisation and Challenge BJP
In a significant political move, the Rajasthan Congress on Monday declared a comprehensive statewide campaign aimed at fortifying its grassroots organisation and intensifying its offensive against the BJP-led governments at both the central and state levels. The campaign, formally titled 'Sangathan Badhao, Loktantra Bachao' (Strengthen Organisation, Save Democracy), is scheduled to be officially launched on April 1, marking a strategic push ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
Campaign Details and Leadership Announcements
Announcing this initiative at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters in Jaipur, the party's state president, Govind Singh Dotasra, outlined that the month-long campaign is designed to mobilize party workers and elevate public awareness on critical issues. Dotasra emphasized that the campaign will serve as a platform to address pressing concerns, including a notable shortage of cooking gas, with a state-level protest planned at Shaheed Smarak in Jaipur on March 27.
Dotasra did not hold back in his criticism of the Narendra Modi government, asserting that its foreign policy has faltered, thereby undermining national interests. He further accused the state government of deliberately postponing elections to urban local bodies and panchayati raj institutions, citing a fear of electoral defeat as the primary motive.
Organisational Restructuring and Allegations of Delay
As part of the organisational overhaul, Dotasra revealed that the PCC will appoint new gram panchayat presidents, and the process to designate ward presidents for all urban local bodies has already commenced. He highlighted specific grievances, alleging that the formation of the OBC Commission was intentionally delayed, and the government has failed to provide it with sufficient resources to complete its work.
"The state government does not want the OBC Commission's report and is using it as an excuse to postpone elections," Dotasra stated, underscoring what he described as a tactic to avoid accountability.
Upcoming District Tours and Strategic Outreach
To bolster the campaign's impact, Dotasra announced that he, along with the Leader of Opposition, Tikaram Jully, will embark on extensive tours across various districts in Rajasthan. The tour is set to begin with visits to Beawar and Balotra on April 2 and 3, respectively, aiming to connect directly with local communities and amplify the party's message.
This campaign represents a concerted effort by the Rajasthan Congress to reinvigorate its base, challenge the incumbent BJP administrations, and position itself as a formidable opposition force in the state's political landscape.
