Rajmohinder Singh Majitha Joins AAP, Boosts Majha

Chandigarh: In a significant political development, former Rajya Sabha MP and Chief Khalsa Diwan patron Rajmohinder Singh Majitha joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday. The move is seen as a major boost for the ruling party in Punjab, particularly in the Majha region.

AAP Claims Setback for SAD

In a statement, AAP asserted that Majitha's joining has dealt a political setback to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The party expressed confidence that this would strengthen its foothold in the Majha region of Punjab, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the SAD.

Other Joinings

Along with Rajmohinder Singh Majitha, former RTI commissioner Heminder Singh Majitha and Chief Khalsa Diwan member Sukhdeep Singh Majitha also joined the AAP. The party's Majitha constituency in-charge, Talbir Singh Gill, was present on the occasion.

Mann congratulated all the leaders who joined the party, crediting the party's pro-people policies for the influx. He described the new members as "eminent personalities from Punjab's religious, social and political spheres." In a post on X, Mann wrote, "I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all of them into the party."

Political Implications

Majitha's entry into AAP is expected to bolster the party's influence in the Majha region, which comprises several key constituencies. The move also underscores the growing appeal of AAP among influential figures from diverse backgrounds, including religious and social organizations.
