In a fiery public address, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on former CM and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, vowing to ensure his political demise. Reddy declared that as long as he is active in politics, he will not allow KCR or his family to regain power in the state.
A Bold Prediction for 2029
Speaking at a gathering in Kosgi on Wednesday, after attending an oath-taking ceremony for local representatives, the CM made a bold electoral prediction. He asserted that the Congress party would secure a massive victory in the next assembly elections, winning 87 out of 119 seats. He went further, stating that if delimitation increases the assembly strength to 153 seats, the Congress would bag 100 seats.
"BRS and KCR will become history in Telangana after the next assembly elections. This is my challenge in Kodangal constituency," Revanth Reddy proclaimed, throwing down the gauntlet to the opposition.
Challenges BRS to Assembly Debate, Hits Back on Allegations
Responding to KCR's recent statements on Krishna river water and his threat to launch a movement, Reddy dismissed the former CM's approach. He challenged KCR to raise issues directly in the legislative assembly instead of speaking at "select gatherings." The CM stated his government's readiness for a comprehensive debate on contentious topics like Krishna waters, the Kaleshwaram project, and the phone tapping scandal.
In a startling revelation, Reddy alleged that even the phone of K Kavitha's husband was tapped during the previous BRS regime. He also strongly criticized KCR's recent 'tolu teestham' (will skin them) remark aimed at the Congress government, ridiculing the BRS chief for emerging from his farmhouse to make what he called "cheap comments."
"The ex-CM should think of his skin, not skinning others, and people did not expect the person with 40 years of political experience to stoop to such a low level," Reddy retorted.
The CM also took the opportunity to categorically reject allegations against him, stating, "I have not engaged in any passport racket. I didn't get a ministerial post by using someone else's name." He emphasized that his administration does not believe in vindictive politics.
Focus on Development and Welfare
Shifting focus to governance, Revanth Reddy accused the previous BRS government of gross injustice to the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. He claimed that not a single major irrigation project was completed in ten years of BRS rule, while the then irrigation minister amassed immense wealth. He assured that his government has taken steps to resume work on neglected projects.
On the welfare front, the CM announced substantial financial assistance for local bodies: Rs 10 lakh each for major gram panchayats and Rs 5 lakh for minor panchayats from a special development fund. He promised additional funds from the CM's relief fund and state and central allocations.
Calling for unity post-elections, Reddy urged that political rivalries be confined to the poll season. "The elections are over, and now there are no more party rivalries. Let us move forward for development," he stated, assuring that Kodangal would be developed as a model constituency.
He listed his government's key welfare initiatives, including fine rice distribution, 200 units of free electricity, the disbursal of Rs 9,000 crore under Rythu Bharosa, free bus travel for women, and the distribution of one crore sarees. He directed newly sworn-in sarpanches to report any lapses in implementation and confirmed that the breakfast and midday meal scheme would start from the next academic year.
