Himanta Biswa Sarma Prioritizes Manifesto Implementation Ahead of Oath-Taking
Guwahati, May 12: Assam's incoming Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday stated that the new government would prioritise the implementation of the BJP's manifesto promises. Speaking to reporters ahead of his oath-taking ceremony, Sarma emphasized that the government's focus would be on fulfilling the commitments made to the people of Assam during the assembly elections.
Focus on Development and Welfare
Sarma outlined that the new administration would work on key areas such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and employment generation. He said, "Our manifesto is our roadmap. We will ensure that every promise is delivered within the stipulated time frame." The BJP-led alliance secured a comfortable majority in the recent Assam assembly elections, paving the way for Sarma to take over as the chief minister.
Implementation Timeline
The incoming CM mentioned that a detailed timeline for the implementation of various schemes would be prepared soon. He also highlighted that the government would adopt a transparent and accountable approach to governance. "We will set up a monitoring mechanism to track the progress of our promises," he added.
Oath-Taking Ceremony
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 13 at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. Several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders, are expected to attend the event. Sarma will be sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam, succeeding Sarbananda Sonowal.
Reactions from Political Circles
Political analysts have noted that Sarma's emphasis on manifesto implementation reflects the BJP's strategy to consolidate its voter base and ensure sustained support. The opposition parties, however, have expressed skepticism, calling for concrete actions rather than mere statements.
As Assam prepares for a new political chapter, all eyes are on Sarma's government to translate its electoral promises into tangible outcomes for the state's development.
