Nashik: Six people were killed and more than 25 others sustained injuries in a tragic two-part accident involving two dumper trucks and a private luxury travel bus at Laling Ghat in Dhule, approximately 150 kilometers from Nashik city. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, according to police officials.
First Collision Between Trucks
The police reported that the first collision was a head-on crash between two dumper trucks around 2:30 am. One of the trucks entered the wrong side of the highway and collided with the other vehicle approaching from the Dhule side. The impact caused significant damage and left the trucks blocking the road.
Second Crash Involving Bus
About an hour later, while police, local residents, and toll plaza personnel were clearing the wreckage, a Mumbai-Indore travel bus crashed into the stationary trucks. This second collision caused even greater damage and resulted in additional casualties.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Deore confirmed the toll, stating, "Overall, there were 34 victims. While six died, others suffered injuries." He identified the deceased as the bus driver, one of the truck drivers, two people who were assisting in clearing the road, and two bus passengers. Due to the severity of the crash, identification of the victims took considerable time.
Investigation and Traffic Disruption
The Mohadi police were in the process of registering an FIR late into the evening. Traffic on the highway was severely affected as rescue and clearance operations continued throughout the day.
