SP Unveils MSP for Milk, Fast Sugarcane Payment in 2027 Poll Agenda

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has placed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for milk and payment to sugarcane growers within 24 hours of purchase at sugar mills at the top of its 2027 election agenda for farmers. The party is also considering the establishment of a farmers' commission to address agriculturists' needs and ensure time-bound scrutiny and disposal of their demands. These decisions were announced by SP national president Akhilesh Yadav after presiding over the Vision India conclave in Ghaziabad on Saturday.

Key Decisions for Farmers

Akhilesh Yadav stated that these issues would feature in the party's manifesto for farmers for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In addition, the party promises free electricity for irrigation and a flat-rate charge for power consumption after providing 300 units of free power per connection. SP functionaries revealed that these farmer-related decisions are being discussed and will be announced soon, following consultations with farmers and stakeholders at the Vision India Conclave.

Criticism of BJP Over Karanda Incident

Separately, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the handling of a case involving the death of a girl from the Vishwakarma community in Karanda village, Ghazipur district. He questioned the delay in lodging the FIR and alterations to the police complaint, stating that "BJP's lies were exposed before the people of Karanda." He noted that questions are being raised on the post-mortem findings and that the administration's claims are being scrutinized by the public.
