Sukhbir Badal Addresses SAD's Jagraon Rally; Slams AAP Government's 'Anti-Punjab' Policies
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal delivered a powerful speech at the 'Punjab Bachao' rally in Jagraon, where he strongly criticized the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for what he termed as 'anti-Punjab' policies. The event drew a huge crowd, reflecting growing public discontent.
Rally Progress and Public Support
Badal highlighted that the 'Punjab Bachao' rally, which commenced from Kadian in Gurdaspur a month ago, has now covered 16-17 constituencies. He expressed encouragement at the overwhelming support received from the people, indicating a significant grassroots movement against the ruling administration.
Criticism of AAP Governance
In his address, Badal painted a grim picture of life under the AAP government, citing widespread fear, hooliganism, gang violence, and shootings. He asserted that businessmen and sportspersons are living in constant apprehension, undermining the state's social fabric.
Badal accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of lacking real authority, claiming that key decisions regarding the appointment of Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, and Tehsildars are being dictated from Delhi by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. This, he argued, erodes Punjab's autonomy and democratic processes.
Allegations of Misuse of Funds
The SAD leader lambasted the government for allegedly spending around Rs 4,000 crore on advertisements while halting essential public welfare schemes such as Shagun, pensions, and atta-dal. He contrasted this with AAP leaders' use of planes and government resources for their rallies, questioning their commitment to public service.
Badal also pointed out unfulfilled promises, including providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) on 22 crops and Rs 1,000 to every woman. He urged the electorate to be cautious in the upcoming 2027 elections, warning against further experimentation with what he described as ineffective leadership.
SAD's Vision for Punjab
Appealing to the masses, Badal called for the return of the 105-year-old Shiromani Akali Dal to power, emphasizing its historical sacrifices for Punjab. He touted SAD's past achievements, such as providing 15 lakh tube well connections, with 13.5 lakh during their tenure, and contributing to thermal plants and power surplus.
Promising development and job creation, Badal vowed to make Jagraon a district if SAD is re-elected. He pledged to bring industry, stop youth migration abroad, and address Punjab's core issues, asserting that only SAD truly understands the state's pain.
Condemnation of Threats to Gippy Grewal
On the sidelines of the rally, Badal condemned the threats received by Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal, labeling them as uncalled for. He held the Punjab government directly responsible for any harm to Grewal, noting that his security cover was withdrawn after meeting Badal.
Badal alleged that the AAP government is intimidating the media to secure votes and filing cases against dissenters. He criticized the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Moga for their roles in recent incidents, warning them of accountability in the future.
Allegations of AAP-Gangster Nexus
Further escalating his attack, Badal accused AAP of collaborating with gangsters, citing the example of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who was allegedly used to send threat messages during the Tarn Taran election. He claimed that such individuals are hand-in-glove with the government, and they will face consequences for their unethical actions within eight months.
Badal concluded by thanking SR Kler, the in-charge of Jagraon, for organizing the massive rally, reinforcing SAD's commitment to saving Punjab from what he perceives as a deteriorating situation under AAP rule.
