Sukhbir Badal slams AAP over lawlessness, seeks votes in MC polls

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday asserted that no one in Punjab is safe under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration. He appealed to the public to vote for the SAD in the upcoming municipal elections to restore order in the state.

Addressing a Public Meeting

Speaking at a gathering in Samana, Sukhbir highlighted the killing of an assistant sub-inspector while on duty in Majitha. He warned that if even police personnel are unsafe, the common man faces even greater danger. He was accompanied by SAD halka in charge Jagmeet Singh Haryau.

Rising Crime and Drug Menace

The Akali Dal chief stated that the drug problem has worsened, making life miserable for residents. Robberies and snatching incidents have increased significantly. He described a complete breakdown of constitutional machinery, with the state descending into anarchy.

Referring to a clash between inmates at the Modern Jail in Kapurthala, Sukhbir noted that gang warfare, now common across Punjab, has even infiltrated high-security prisons.

Blame on Chief Minister

Sukhbir held Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann directly responsible for the deteriorating situation, asserting that Mann lacks the moral authority to remain in office. He added that lawlessness is driving trade and industry away from Punjab, exacting a heavy toll on the state.

Lokpal Vacancy

Responding to media queries, Sukhbir recalled that AAP came to power on an anti-corruption platform, with the Lokpal institution as a cornerstone. However, the party failed to establish a strong Lokpal in Punjab, and the post is now vacant. With over 150 complaints pending, there is a vacuum in the anti-corruption framework.

Allegations of Rigging

When asked about AAP leaders openly announcing plans to rig the municipal elections, Sukhbir demanded strict action against them. He further predicted that all corrupt leaders and ministers, including Aman Arora, are under investigation by central agencies and will soon be imprisoned.
