Historic Appointment in Jharkhand Police
In a landmark moment for Jharkhand, Tadasha Mishra shattered the glass ceiling by becoming the state's first woman Director General of Police (DGP). The 1994-batch IPS officer formally took charge as the acting DGP during a ceremony held at the police headquarters in Ranchi on Friday.
Priorities and Vision for Jharkhand Police
Outlining her immediate agenda after assuming office, Mishra emphasized her commitment to transforming the police force. "Jharkhand police is a large organization. Steps would be taken to ensure the personnel work in a disciplined manner. Police should be responsible and responsive," she stated. The new police chief identified several key focus areas that will define her tenure.
Mishra plans to address the basic needs of police personnel through various mediums while ensuring the force operates with greater discipline and accountability. She stressed that improving policing standards and restoring public faith in the force would be among her top priorities.
Comprehensive Security Strategy
The newly appointed DGP confirmed that operations against organized crime, cybercrime, and left-wing extremism would continue under her leadership. She particularly emphasized special attention to the safety of women, children, and other weaker sections of society.
Mishra also highlighted the importance of crime control and maintaining commitment towards public service and safety. "At present our focus is also on ensuring peaceful and proper celebration of the state's foundation day on November 15," she added, addressing immediate concerns.
Following her appointment, Mishra met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren to discuss her vision for the police department. She affirmed that the police would work according to the government's visions while maintaining its operational integrity.

Mishra brings extensive experience to her new role, having served in numerous significant positions throughout her career. Her postings include:
- Superintendent of Police in Madhepura (in unified Bihar), Ranchi city, Ranchi Rural
- Positions in Criminal Investigation Department, Bokaro and Giridih
- Commandant of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) 2 and 1
- DIG, IG human rights, IG Bokaro and special branch
- ADG rail and JAP
- Special secretary in the state department of home, jail and disaster management
Senior police officers including IGs Manoj Kaushik, Prabhat Kumar, Asim Vikrant Minz, Dr Michael Raj, Kranti Kumar Gadideshi, Sudarshan Prasad Mandal and Patel Mayur Kanhaiyyalal, along with DIGs Indrajit Mahtha and Surendra Kumar Jha, extended their wishes to the new DGP, marking a unified welcome to her leadership.
