Tamil Nadu Election Fever Boosts TVK Merchandise Sales

Tamil Nadu Election Merchandise Market Heats Up with TVK Dominance

With the Tamil Nadu assembly election drawing closer, a significant surge in the sale of election-related merchandise has been observed across the state. In key cities like Tirupur and Madurai, party flags, symbols, badges, and mufflers are being sold in exceptionally high volumes, with merchandise from the TVK party dominating the market.

Entrepreneurs Capitalize on TVK Craze with Innovative Products

Local entrepreneurs are quickly adapting to the demand by introducing customized items. Vinoth Kumar from Tirupur recently designed a whistle embossed with 'TVK' and the party's flag colors, posting it on social media. "Since then, I have been receiving at least 400-450 bulk order enquiries per day, and half of them have turned into actual orders," he said. These whistles are being shipped to various cities, including Bangalore.

Similarly, B Praveen Kumar, who runs a garment store in Tirupur, launched a black T-shirt featuring the 'whistle' symbol after the party's symbol was announced. "Since the TVK craze is everywhere, I thought of introducing a customized T-shirt," he explained. He reports receiving over 30 online enquiries daily for these T-shirts and plans to expand the product line based on demand.

Textile Stores See Unprecedented Sales of Symbol-Embedded Apparel

In Salem, a textile store owner named Hari has tapped into the trend by offering saris, dhothis, and shirts printed with the 'whistle' symbol. "We started with a sample of just 100. Within a month, over 2,500 saris have been sold, and orders have been placed for more," Hari stated. Currently, 20,000 more saris are in production, while nearly 10,000 dhothis and shirts have already been sold out.

Madurai Shops Experience High Demand for TVK Items

Shops located on East Avani Moola Street in Madurai city are also witnessing robust sales of election merchandise. One shop owner noted that TVK-related products are particularly popular, with this craze emerging even before the official announcement of the election date.

Kumar T, a shop owner with 26 years of experience selling election merchandise and having witnessed four elections, shared his insights with TOI. "For the past three months, TVK merchandise has seen the highest sales," he said. His shop sells all party flags in various sizes and types, including cloth and paper versions, with festoon flags being purchased for party events and conferences.

The overall market indicates a vibrant economic activity driven by political enthusiasm, as businesses across Tamil Nadu leverage the election season to boost their sales through innovative and party-specific merchandise.
