Chennai: Former Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner J Kumaragurubaran has been appointed as secretary to the government for the commercial taxes, registration and religious endowments department. This transfer was part of a significant reshuffle of IAS officers carried out by the Tamil Nadu government on Friday.
Key Postings in the Reshuffle
Kumaragurubaran succeeds Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, who has now been posted as commissioner of labour. Dr S Swarna has been redesignated as principal secretary for the tourism, culture and special initiatives department.
In another important posting, Dr D Karthikeyan, previously principal secretary to the government for the municipal administration and water supply department, has been placed at the disposal of TIDCO for appointment as its principal secretary-chairman and managing director.
The government transferred Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, additional chief secretary and chairperson of TIDCO, to the role of additional chief secretary for the planning and development department. Sandeep Nanduri, managing director of TIDCO, was posted as special secretary to the industries, investment promotion and commerce department.
Other Transfers
Among other changes, G Prakash, formerly member secretary of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, was posted as principal secretary and additional commissioner of revenue administration in the commissionerate of revenue administration and disaster management. Kiran Gurrala, commissioner of transport and road safety, was transferred and posted as commissioner of town and country planning, while D Baskara Pandian was posted as director of transport and road safety.
Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan, returning from leave, was posted as director of fisheries and will also function as managing director of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation.
The government also posted Asha Ajith as director of environment and climate change, T Christuraj as director of survey and settlement, and T Charusree as director of treasuries and accounts.
Further, Dr T G Vinay, formerly managing director of Metrowater, was placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation as its managing director, while Dr S Aneesh Sekhar was placed at the disposal of the National Health Mission as mission director.
