Telangana Chief Minister Unveils Major Development Plans for Adilabad District

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy made significant announcements on Friday during a public meeting in Nirmal. He outlined a comprehensive development agenda for the combined Adilabad district. The plans include fast-tracking a major irrigation project at Tummidihatti. The state government also aims to develop an airport to improve connectivity in the region.

Key Infrastructure Projects Announced

Revanth Reddy detailed several ambitious projects. The government will establish a university at IIIT Basara. It plans to set up the state's largest industrial park in Adilabad district. The Chief Minister emphasized his readiness to seek approvals from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these initiatives.

"I am prepared to meet the Prime Minister any number of times for the state's interest," Revanth Reddy declared. He explained that an airport requires the PM's approval. The Tummidihatti irrigation project needs permission from Maharashtra. A word from the Prime Minister or Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Maharashtra Chief Minister would benefit Telangana.

Focus on Cooperation with Central Government

The Chief Minister addressed questions about his frequent meetings with Narendra Modi. "We do not have any personal relationship, but he is the Prime Minister," Revanth Reddy stated. He stressed that maintaining cordial relations with the Centre is crucial for attracting big industries and securing funds.

"Big industries will be set up, and funds will be allocated only if cordial relations are maintained with the Centre," he asserted. The CM clarified that he meets the PM and Union ministers without any personal agenda. His sole focus remains the development of Telangana.

Inaugurations and Foundation Stone Ceremonies

During his visit, Revanth Reddy inaugurated the Chanaka-Korata pump house and Sadarmat barrage on the Godavari river. He laid foundation stones for works costing Rs 370 crore in the erstwhile Adilabad district. Following demands from BJP and Congress MLAs and other party leaders, he agreed to name the Chanaka-Korata project after C Ramachandra Reddy. The Sadarmat barrage will be named after Narsa Reddy.

Addressing Historical Neglect

The Chief Minister acknowledged that the combined Adilabad district has not seen the development it deserves. "That is why I said I would allocate funds to Adilabad district on a par with Palamuru (Mahabubnagar)," he explained. Revanth Reddy noted that irrigation projects were not completed during the previous government's tenure for various reasons.

"Immediately after the Congress government was formed, we began working towards completing these projects," he added. The CM also sanctioned an advanced training centre for Nirmal during his visit.

Political Context and Future Plans

Revanth Reddy appealed to voters to elect candidates who would work in coordination with ministers and the state government. This appeal comes ahead of municipal elections likely in mid-February. Nearly a dozen urban local bodies in the combined Adilabad district will go to the polls.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Congress would remain in power until 2034. He urged voters to choose representatives who could work effectively with the government. Revanth Reddy began his district tour with the public meeting at Nirmal on Friday. He is scheduled to address meetings in Mahabubnagar, Khammam, and Medaram or Mulugu on January 18 and 19.
