Telangana Chief Minister Directs Officials to Frame Comprehensive Temple Regulations

In a significant move aimed at preserving the spiritual integrity of religious sites, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to develop a detailed set of regulations for the functioning of temples across Telangana. Drawing inspiration from the renowned Tirumala temple, the directive was issued during a review meeting focused on the development of the Basara Gnana Saraswathi temple.

Emphasis on Spiritual Sanctity and Prohibitions

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy emphasized that spirituality must be given top priority in all temple operations. He explicitly called for the protection of temple sanctity by prohibiting political meetings, flag hoisting, and demonstrations within temple premises. This measure is intended to maintain a peaceful and devotional atmosphere, ensuring that temples remain dedicated solely to religious activities.

Development Plans for Basara Gnana Saraswathi Temple

Officials from the endowments department presented a master plan for the development of the Basara Gnana Saraswathi temple, with an estimated cost of Rs 225 crore. The Chief Minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for this project on April 6. Revanth Reddy suggested key modifications to the plan, stressing that all development works must strictly adhere to established rituals and traditions to avoid any disruption to the temple's spiritual essence.

Infrastructure and Environmental Initiatives

To accommodate the increasing number of devotees, the CM proposed the construction of wider roads leading to the temple. He also highlighted the need for long-term planning, including:

  • Extensive plantation within the temple premises to create a green cover.
  • Establishment of a healthcare centre equipped with adequate medical staff to cater to devotees during major events like Godavari Pushkaralu.

In an effort to manage congestion, Revanth Reddy ordered that even VIP vehicles be parked outside the temple premises. He stated, "Dignitaries should access the temple only through EV vehicles. Plans must be formulated and implemented immediately." Additionally, a solar rooftop system will be set up at the parking area to promote sustainable energy use.

Quality Assurance and Strict Action

Reiterating that development must not disturb the temple's sanctity, Revanth Reddy warned of strict action against any compromise in the quality of works. This underscores the government's commitment to ensuring that all enhancements are carried out with the utmost respect for religious traditions and standards.
