Telangana Chief Minister Distributes Compensation to Families of Bus Fire Victims

In a solemn ceremony held at the state secretariat in Hyderabad on Saturday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally distributed ex gratia payments to the grieving families affected by a devastating bus fire accident. The tragic incident, which occurred on November 17 last year in Medina, Saudi Arabia, claimed the lives of 44 individuals who were on their Umrah pilgrimage.

Financial Support and Personal Assurance

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy handed over cheques for Rs 5 lakh each to the families of all 44 victims who perished in the accident. Additionally, families of those who sustained serious injuries in the fire received compensation cheques of Rs 3 lakh each. The CM emphasized that while the financial assistance could have been sent directly to their homes, he chose to meet the families in person to offer emotional support and solidarity during this difficult time.

"We called you to the state secretariat with the intention of assuring you all that we are with you," Revanth Reddy stated during the ceremony. "These cheques could have been sent to your homes, but we wanted to meet all of you personally to convey our deepest condolences and stand by you in your moment of grief."

Broader Context of Government Compensation

The distribution of ex gratia for the Saudi Arabia bus fire victims is part of the Telangana government's ongoing efforts to provide financial relief to families affected by tragic incidents. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also mentioned that compensation has been similarly disbursed to the families of victims who lost their lives in the recent Nampally fire accident in Hyderabad.

This gesture underscores the state administration's commitment to supporting citizens during times of crisis, ensuring that affected families receive both monetary assistance and moral support from the government.

The bus fire in Medina last November was a heartbreaking event that shocked the community, particularly given the spiritual significance of the Umrah pilgrimage for the victims. The Telangana government's response highlights its proactive approach in addressing such tragedies and providing necessary aid to those impacted.
