Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issued a strong warning to the Central government on Monday, stating that his government would declare a war against the Centre if it fails to purchase paddy and other crops from the state. Addressing a public meeting at Kagaznagar in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district after launching the second phase of the 'Indiramma' housing scheme, Reddy emphasized the state government's commitment to farmers' welfare.
Procurement numbers for Rabi season
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the state government is currently procuring 75 lakh quintals of paddy during the ongoing Rabi season. He accused the Centre of neglecting Telangana's agricultural needs and warned that any failure to support crop procurement would lead to a direct confrontation.
Political implications
The chief minister's remarks come amid rising tensions between the state and central governments over agricultural policies. Reddy asserted that the state would not hesitate to take drastic measures to protect its farmers' interests. He called on the Centre to fulfill its responsibilities and ensure timely procurement of all crops grown in Telangana.
The public meeting also focused on the Indiramma housing scheme, which aims to provide affordable housing to the underprivileged. Reddy urged the crowd to support the state government's initiatives and remain vigilant against any attempts to undermine their progress.
