TVK Accuses Union Government of Pressure Tactics After Vijay's Anti-BJP Declaration
In a significant development, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has alleged that the Union government has initiated a campaign of pressure against the party. This accusation follows a firm statement by TVK president Vijay, who unequivocally ruled out any political alliance with what he termed 'communal forces,' widely interpreted as a reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Pressure Mounts Post-Mamallapuram Event
Speaking to reporters in Madurai on Friday, TVK general secretary (propaganda) K G Arun Raj detailed the timeline of events. He revealed that Vijay made the party's stance explicit during a public event in Mamallapuram back in January. "Pressure was not exerted on us before that. But it has begun now," Arun Raj asserted, highlighting a shift in the political landscape.
Arun Raj pointed to specific instances to substantiate the claim of governmental pressure. He referenced a CBI enquiry into the Karur stampede, for which Vijay was summoned to New Delhi, and the denial of clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification for his movie Jananayagan. "You are aware of the CBI enquiry and the issues surrounding films," he remarked, suggesting these actions were politically motivated.
Unwavering Stance Against BJP
Despite these alleged pressures, Arun Raj emphasized that TVK's position remains steadfast. "Nevertheless, our leader clearly stated that there will be no alliance with communal forces. What more clarity is needed?" he declared, ruling out any future tie-up with the BJP. This statement reinforces Vijay's earlier comments and aims to dispel any speculation about potential political realignments.
Arun Raj also addressed criticisms that TVK has been soft on the BJP. He clarified that the party has officially declared both the ruling parties in Tamil Nadu and at the Centre as its political adversaries. Allegations of Administrative Hurdles by State Government
In addition to central pressure, Arun Raj accused the DMK-led state government of creating obstacles for TVK's activities. "While the ruling party was able to secure clearances within one or two days, TVK faced multiple conditions," he alleged.
He cited examples of planned events in Salem and Vellore, which were organized weeks in advance but did not receive timely approvals. "This reflects a pattern of administrative obstruction," he added, suggesting a coordinated effort to hinder TVK's growth and public outreach.

Looking ahead, Arun Raj announced that TVK's election manifesto is currently under preparation. He stated that the manifesto would prioritize governance responsibilities and addressing public needs, rather than making unrealistic promises.
