Udupi Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar Asserts Parashurama Theme Park Completion Amid Political Controversy
In a significant development from Udupi, district minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has firmly stated that the long-awaited Parashurama Theme Park will be completed at the earliest possible time. This announcement comes as a direct response to recent allegations made by Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar, who accused the government of withholding funds for the project.
Minister Counters MLA's Claims, Accuses Deception
Addressing reporters on Monday, Minister Hebbalkar launched a strong rebuttal against the MLA's assertions. "This region is always known as the land of gods," she declared. "I would like to tell Sunil Kumar that it was he who deceived people by installing a fibre statue of Parashurama, and cheated people by spreading misinformation. The Congress need not play politics in the name of gods. We will install the authentic statue of Parashurama at the earliest."
Her remarks highlight a deepening political rift over the project, with the minister accusing the opposition of misleading the public through symbolic gestures rather than substantive action.
Investigations and Legal Proceedings Underway
When questioned about ongoing investigations into alleged misappropriations related to the theme park project and the Dakshina Kannada cooperative sugar factory in Brahmavar, Hebbalkar provided crucial updates. She confirmed that the case concerning the Parashurama Theme Park has already been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for thorough examination.
Additionally, she noted that multiple cases are currently pending in various courts, indicating that legal processes are actively addressing these matters to ensure accountability and transparency.
Hate Speech Bill: Aimed at National Unity and Brotherhood
Shifting focus to legislative matters, Minister Hebbalkar elaborated on the government's proposed Hate Speech Bill. She emphasized that the bill's primary objective is to foster unity, integrity, and brotherhood across the nation. "People should not defame any caste, religion, land, or any individual," she asserted. "Hence, the government brought the bill against hate speeches under the spirit of the Constitution. Our intention is not to disrupt the objectives of the peace process."
She further clarified that action will be taken against those who engage in hate speech, and any notices issued before the bill becomes law are based on careful consideration of individuals' backgrounds by the relevant departments.
Addressing Controversy Over Deputy Commissioner's Actions
On the issue of Congress members in Udupi demanding action against deputy commissioner TK Swaroopa for holding a saffron flag during the Paryaya programme, Hebbalkar adopted a conciliatory approach. "Udupi is a district well-known for its religious events and culture," she remarked. "I was already aware of the incident related to the DC. We should not engage in activities that provoke religious sentiments."
The minister stated that she plans to discuss this matter with those who raised the issue, aiming to address concerns while maintaining the district's reputation for harmony and cultural respect.
This comprehensive statement from Minister Hebbalkar underscores the government's commitment to completing key projects like the Parashurama Theme Park, while also navigating complex political and social issues through legislative measures and dialogue.
