UP Family Hires Contract Killer to Kill Drug-Addicted Son

In a chilling turn of events in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, a family allegedly hired a contract killer to murder their drug-addicted son. The police have arrested the father and brother of the victim in connection with the crime. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the severe consequences of drug addiction and familial breakdown.

The Crime Unfolds

The victim, identified as Ravi, was a known drug addict who had been causing trouble for his family for several years. Despite multiple attempts at rehabilitation, Ravi continued his addiction, leading to frequent arguments and financial strain on the family. According to police sources, the family decided to take extreme measures after Ravi threatened to kill them and sell their property to fund his drug habit.

The father, Suresh, and his elder son, Vikas, allegedly contacted a contract killer named Munna, who agreed to eliminate Ravi for a sum of Rs. 2 lakh. The police received a tip-off about the plot and arrested Suresh and Vikas before the murder could be executed. Munna, the contract killer, is currently absconding.

Police Investigation

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amroha, Dr. Ravi Shankar, stated that the arrests were made based on credible intelligence. “We received information that a family was planning to kill their own son. We immediately launched an investigation and apprehended the father and brother. They have confessed to their involvement in the conspiracy,” he said.

The police are now on the lookout for Munna, who is believed to be hiding in a neighboring district. The SSP added that the family had been under surveillance for some time due to frequent complaints of domestic violence and disturbances linked to Ravi's addiction.

Community Reaction

The incident has sparked a debate about the rising drug abuse in the region and the lack of adequate rehabilitation facilities. Local residents expressed shock and sadness over the family's decision. “It is heartbreaking that a family would go to such lengths. Drug addiction is a disease that needs treatment, not murder,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.

Social workers and activists have called for stricter enforcement of drug laws and better support systems for families dealing with addiction. “This case is a wake-up call. We need to address the root causes of drug abuse and provide counseling and medical help to those in need,” said Anjali Sharma, a local NGO worker.

Legal Proceedings

The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including criminal conspiracy and attempt to murder. They were produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody. The police are investigating if other family members were aware of the plot.

The case has also raised questions about the role of contract killers in the region. The police have assured that they will intensify efforts to track down Munna and dismantle any networks involved in such activities.

As the investigation continues, the community remains in shock, hoping that justice will be served and that measures will be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
