Major Religious Developments and Tourism Growth
Key projects driving this initiative include the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor in Varanasi. These landmarks are expected to attract millions of devotees and tourists, boosting the local economy and infrastructure.
Pilgrimage Circuits and Cultural Councils
Beyond these prominent sites, the state has launched 12 organized pilgrimage circuits, such as the Ramayana and Buddhist circuits, designed to streamline religious tourism. Additionally, district-level cultural councils and tourism hubs have been established across all assembly constituencies to document and preserve local traditions and heritage.
Record-Breaking Events and Tourist Visits
In 2024, Uttar Pradesh witnessed approximately 66 crore tourist visits, including over 14 lakh foreign tourists. Events like the Deepotsav in Ayodhya, where more than 25 lakh lamps were lit, have garnered international acclaim, including recognition from Guinness World Records.
Promotion of Traditional Crafts and Ancient Studies
Under the One District One Product scheme, traditional crafts are being actively promoted. The state has secured Geographical Indication (GI) tags for 77 products, including Bhadohi carpets and Nizamabad pottery, enhancing their market value and cultural significance.
Veda Science Study Centre
Plans have been announced for a Veda Science Study Centre at Naimisharanya, dedicated to supporting the study of ancient Indian texts. This initiative aims to foster academic research and preserve India's rich philosophical heritage.
The Mahakumbh in Prayagraj last year saw participation from more than 66 crore devotees, underscoring the state's pivotal role in hosting large-scale religious gatherings.
