Vijay Asserts Tamil Nadu as His Home, Demands Justice at Salem Campaign Event
In a spirited address at a campaign program in Seelanaickkanpatty, Salem district, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay made a powerful statement about his political journey and the challenges faced by his party. The event, which included a meeting of TVK executives, was held on Friday, drawing significant attention from supporters and political observers alike.
Vijay's Emotional Appeal to the People of Tamil Nadu
Vijay began his speech by addressing the persistent calls for him to leave his residence in Panaiyur and step out more publicly. "Everyone is telling me to come out of the house and leave Panaiyur," he said, adding a pointed question: "Do they even know where my house is?" He then made a heartfelt declaration about his connection to the state. "This Tamil Nadu may be a state for others. But for me, it’s my motherland and my home," he claimed, emphasizing his deep-rooted ties to the region.
Highlighting the demographic scale of his commitment, Vijay noted that Tamil Nadu has a population of eight crore people. "The entire population of Tamil Nadu are like family and my relatives," he stated, positioning himself as their sole advocate. "I am the only one who will stand up for these eight crore relatives who gave me everything," he asserted, framing his political role as one of familial duty rather than mere electoral ambition.
A Call for Justice Over Votes
Vijay made it clear that his campaign is not solely about securing votes. "I have come to ask for justice from you. I came into politics to ask for justice for you," he explained, reflecting on his initial motivations. He then posed a rhetorical question about his political entry: "What mistake did this Vijay make? I came into politics for my people who loved me. Is that a mistake?" This query underscored his perception of unfair criticism and obstacles.
He contrasted the treatment of TVK with that of other political parties by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). "The ruling party gives permission to all other parties to hold conferences or public meetings. They provide space. But they impose restrictions only on TVK," he alleged. Vijay questioned the fairness of this disparity, asking: "What is the justice in this?" He further detailed the practical challenges, noting a lack of venues for public engagement and inadequate security provisions compared to other parties.
Criticizing the 'Stalin Operating Procedure'
In a striking critique, Vijay addressed the term S.O.P., which stands for Standard Operating Procedure. "They talk about S.O.P.—its full form is Standard Operating Procedure. But for me, it is Stalin sir Operating Procedure," he said, directly implicating Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in what he views as biased administrative actions. This remark highlighted his frustration with what he perceives as targeted restrictions against TVK.
Concluding his appeal, Vijay reiterated his quest for justice. "That’s why I have come to my relatives to ask for justice. Who else should I go to for it?" he asked, reinforcing his message of reliance on the people of Tamil Nadu. His speech blended personal narrative with political critique, aiming to rally support by framing the election as a fight for fairness and recognition.
The Salem event marks a significant moment in TVK's campaign, as Vijay continues to navigate the competitive landscape of Tamil Nadu politics while challenging the incumbent DMK's policies and practices.
