Death Toll Rises to 7 After Wayanad Landslide
The death toll from the landslide that occurred on July 7 at the Anakkompoyil Meppadi tunnel project site in Wayanad has risen to seven, with one person still reported missing, according to officials. The incident took place amid heavy rainfall in the region, which has been experiencing a wet spell.

The landslide struck the tunnel construction site, burying workers and equipment. Rescue operations were launched immediately by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local authorities. As of July 10, seven bodies have been recovered, and search efforts continue for the missing individual. The deceased have been identified as workers from various parts of Kerala, according to district administration sources.

The landslide has raised concerns about the safety of infrastructure projects in ecologically sensitive areas.
