Prayagraj: In a high-voltage drama that lasted more than an hour in Pratapgarh, a 28-year-old woman climbed atop a 20-foot mobile tower near Charu nursing home in Balipur on Wednesday, demanding the release of her lover from jail. However, senior police officers were shocked to discover that she was the same woman who had lodged an FIR against her lover, identified as Ankit Gautam, a resident of Maheshganj. The FIR was filed under sections 69, 352, and 251(2) of the BNS at Kunda police station on April 21, accusing him of having a physical relationship under the pretext of marriage.
Timeline of Events
Acting upon the FIR, police arrested Ankit and sent him behind bars on April 24. On Wednesday, the woman reached the mobile tower and began climbing, sparking a tense standoff. SHO (Kotwali) Raj Kumar Yadav stated that police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and managed to bring her down after assuring her that her grievance would be addressed.
Police Response
The authorities worked swiftly to de-escalate the situation. The woman was safely brought down after more than an hour of negotiations. The police have promised to look into her demands and resolve the matter amicably.
This incident highlights the complexities of personal relationships and the drastic measures individuals may take when they feel desperate. The police have urged citizens to approach legal channels for resolving disputes rather than resorting to such risky actions.
