A tragic incident unfolded in Garhwa district, Jharkhand, where a 40-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her brother-in-law following a dispute over attending a marriage ceremony. The deceased has been identified as Urmila Mushar, a resident of Majhgawan village under the Hariharpur out-post (OP) within the Kandi police station limits.

The gruesome attack took place on Friday, leaving Urmila dead and her 16-year-old son, Arjun, critically injured. According to police reports, the altercation began when Urmila insisted on attending a family wedding, which the accused, Uday Mushar, opposed. The argument escalated, leading to Uday allegedly using a sharp weapon to attack Urmila and her son.
Police Action and Arrest
After the attack, Uday Mushar fled the scene but was apprehended by police within hours. Nasim Ansari, the in-charge of Hariharpur OP, confirmed the arrest and stated, “A dispute led to the incident. The accused was arrested promptly and will be sent to judicial custody on Saturday.” The body of Urmila was sent to Garhwa Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination to aid the investigation.
