Woman Killed in Dumper Truck Accident in Ara, Husband Injured

A tragic accident occurred on Monday morning near the Sun temple at Chandwa under Nawada police station area in Ara town of Bhojpur district, where a 40-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding dumper truck. The deceased has been identified as Neetu Devi, wife of Sudhir Singh, a sub-inspector posted in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Singh is a resident of Kaushikpur Dularchak village under Mufassil police station area.

Accident Details

According to police reports, Neetu was riding to the market with her husband on a scooter when the heavy vehicle struck them, killing her instantly. Her husband sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital in Ara. The accident took place around 11 am.

Public Outrage and Road Blockade

Angered by the alleged rash driving of truck drivers, local residents blocked the Ara-Buxar main road, pelted stones at the vehicle involved in the mishap, and attempted to vandalize it. Protesters also burnt tires, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.

“There must be strict enforcement of the no-entry rule for heavy vehicles during daytime. Rash driving by truck drivers is causing frequent accidents,” a protester stated.

Ara Sadar SDPO-1 Raj Kumar Shah and Nawada SHO Vipin Bihari, along with other police personnel, rushed to the spot and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade, assuring them that necessary steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

“The blockade lasted for about 45 minutes. Police are trying to trace and arrest the driver,” Nawada SHO Vipin Bihari said.
