CM Yogi Adityanath Declares Uttar Pradesh's Shift from Unrest to Celebration
In a strong reaffirmation of his administration's stance on public safety, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated on Sunday that the state has undergone a profound transformation from a period of "upadrav" (unrest) to one of "utsav" (celebration). Speaking in Gorakhpur, the CM emphasized that criminal elements will not be permitted to thrive again in UP, with strict actions promised against those involved in illicit activities.
Zero-Tolerance on Crime and Law and Order
The Chief Minister declared that the era of riots, curfews, lawlessness, and looting in Uttar Pradesh is conclusively over. He highlighted that while the administrative framework remains unchanged since 2017, its identity has been fundamentally altered. "Previously, mafia groups operated parallel governments in various districts. Today, UP is recognized nationwide for its safety, developmental progress, and the respect accorded to its youth," Adityanath asserted.
Infrastructure and Development Initiatives Launched
During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a multi-level parking facility integrated with commercial spaces at Bandhu Singh Park and unveiled the beautification project of the historic Ghantaghar area. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for a new commercial complex at Pandeyhata, which is part of the broader heritage corridor initiative in Gorakhpur.
The CM stressed that a secure environment has significantly boosted confidence among traders and women, empowering them to pursue self-reliance and economic independence. He pointed to projects like the heritage corridor and the parking complex as tangible examples of how positive governance intentions lead to rapid and visible changes.
Emphasis on National Identity and Symbols
Adityanath delivered a pointed message regarding national pride, stating that opposition to national symbols will not be tolerated in the new India. "There are individuals who benefit from India but refuse to honor it through actions like singing the national anthem. This behavior is unacceptable," he remarked. He clarified that while government welfare schemes are implemented without bias, citizens must demonstrate respect for national emblems, including the national song, anthem, flag, and the Constitution drafted by B.R. Ambedkar.
Urban Transformation and Economic Growth
The Chief Minister outlined Gorakhpur's rapid urban development under the Smart City vision, noting that enhanced infrastructure, such as the new parking facility, will alleviate traffic congestion and stimulate trade. He assured that traders displaced by the corridor project are being rehabilitated in the newly constructed complexes.
In a significant announcement, Adityanath revealed approval for a 20 MW floating solar power plant at Chilua Tal. This initiative aims to support solar lighting systems and advance Gorakhpur's goal of becoming a "solar city."
Economic Policies and Directives
Further, the CM highlighted that no new taxes have been introduced in the state over the past nine years, even as Uttar Pradesh's economy has tripled in size. He instructed civic authorities to ensure that rental rates in the new commercial complexes remain reasonable and accessible to all stakeholders.
Earlier in the day, Yogi Adityanath performed traditional rituals during the foundation-laying ceremony for the Pandeyhata commercial complex. He also joined a collective rendition of Vande Mataram following the inauguration of the Ghantaghar beautification project, a site deeply connected to India's freedom struggle history.
