Yogi Adityanath Government Marks Nine Years with Major Infrastructure Push in Varanasi

As the Yogi Adityanath government completes nine years in office, it has achieved a significant milestone in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency. According to Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, a total of 486 large-scale projects worth over Rs 35,156 crore have been dedicated to the public, focusing on essential amenities like roads, bridges, drinking water, and sewerage systems.

Comprehensive Development Initiatives Unveiled

During an event at Girija Devi Sanskritik Sankul in Chaukaghat, Jaiswal inaugurated a development exhibition and highlighted the state's progress under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership. He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is advancing rapidly while preserving its rich cultural heritage, aligning with the Viksit Bharat Viksit Uttar Pradesh vision.

The government's efforts aim to transform Varanasi into a world-class tourist destination. To this end, 30 projects costing more than Rs 721 crore have been completed, including:

  • Redevelopment at Sarnath
  • Road along the Ganga river bank from Markandey Mahadev Ghat to Sangam Ghat at Kaithi

Infrastructure and Transportation Achievements

In the transportation sector, 127 projects related to ring roads, national highways, state roads, district roads, and bridges have been finished, with a total cost exceeding Rs 22,829 crore. Additionally, construction work on roads and bridges worth over Rs 5,813 crore is currently underway.

Other completed infrastructure projects include railway, airport, and waterway developments costing more than Rs 1,529 crore. Under the Smart City initiative, 34 projects valued at Rs 877 crore have been concluded, such as:

  1. Kashi Integrated Command Control Centre
  2. Advanced surveillance cameras at 720 locations
  3. Varanasi Sports Complex Sigra
  4. Town Hall Shopping Complex
  5. 3D Urban Digital Map
  6. Multilevel two-wheeler parking at Godaulia Chowk

Healthcare, Utilities, and Social Welfare Progress

The government has also made strides in healthcare, with 43 health projects worth Rs 1,870.36 crore completed. Notable facilities include:

  • Cancer Institute and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital
  • 430-bed Super Speciality Hospital at Kashi Hindu Vishwavidyalaya
  • District Women's Hospital
  • 100-bed Maternity Wing at Kabirchaura
  • Bone Marrow Transplant and Stem Cell Research Centre

In utilities, 60 sewerage and drinking water-related projects costing over Rs 1,000 crore have been finished. Urban electricity reform work has been carried out at Rs 1,100 crore, involving the electrification of 3,722 hamlets, construction of a 220 KV electricity sub-station, and a Bio CNG plant.

Social welfare initiatives have benefited thousands, with 38,167 persons receiving assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin and 5,967 under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana over the past nine years.

Ongoing and Future Development Plans

Minister Jaiswal reported that various development projects worth over Rs 17,915 crore are currently in progress in Varanasi. Furthermore, under industrial investment, 194 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed in the district, proposing an investment of Rs 21,566.72 crore, signaling robust economic growth and job creation prospects.

The Yogi Adityanath government's comprehensive approach to development in Varanasi underscores its commitment to enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism, paving the way for a brighter future in Uttar Pradesh.
