Indore Gets 50-Lane World-Class Shooting Range, BSF's First International Facility
BSF Opens 50-Lane Electronic Shooting Range in Indore

Indore has catapulted into the league of global sporting hubs with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art international shooting facility. The Border Security Force's Central School of Weapons and Tactics (CSWT) has activated a new 50-lane electronic scoring target system at its Reoti Ranges this week, marking a historic upgrade.

A Decades-Long Wait Ends for BSF Shooters

This cutting-edge installation makes the BSF the first Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the country to possess infrastructure capable of hosting world-level shooting competitions. For nearly two decades, BSF personnel trained using manual paper targets, a process that involved constant interruptions for scoring and analysis.

BSF Inspector General Alok Kumar Singh highlighted the transformative impact, noting the force waited for this upgrade for almost twenty years. The new system uses sensors to instantly register each shot and display the score on a screen, providing shooters with real-time feedback to correct their technique instantly.

Beyond Training: A Boost for Indore and Regional Talent

The facility shatters the monopoly of cities like Bhopal and Delhi, which previously housed the only world-standard ranges in the region. BSF shooters preparing for national or international events no longer need to disrupt their training schedules with extensive travel.

The benefits extend far beyond the force. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had earlier announced a plan for selected young shooters from modest backgrounds in Indore and nearby districts to receive high-grade training at this very campus. While the identification process by district administration is pending, the BSF intends to open the range's doors to nurture this new talent.

Data-Driven Coaching and Uninterrupted Practice

The new electronic system is not just about instant scores. It maintains a comprehensive data bank of past results, allowing coaches to study long-term performance patterns, compare progress, and design highly targeted training sessions. With 50 lanes operational simultaneously, larger groups can train efficiently without cutting into individual practice time.

The facility was inaugurated virtually by BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary. This strategic enhancement places CSWT Indore firmly on the map as a premier destination for shooting sports, promising to elevate training standards and competitive opportunities for both paramilitary forces and civilian aspirants in the heart of India.
