In a remarkable display of strength and skill, young athlete Yuvika Dhir from Jalandhar has secured a silver medal at the prestigious Asmita Khelo India Women’s League. The competition, a key platform for showcasing female sporting talent across India, was held in Sunam, Sangrur district, on January 7.

From Powerlifting Prodigy to Weightlifting Winner

Yuvika Dhir is not a newcomer to the podium. A Class 9 student at Police DAV Public School in Jalandhar, she has already carved a niche for herself as a formidable force in strength sports. Her journey began in powerlifting, where she rose to become a National Gold Medallist. Demonstrating exceptional versatility, Dhir successfully transitioned to Olympic weightlifting, carrying her winning momentum forward.

Competing in the demanding +77 kg category at the Khelo India event, Dhir delivered a powerful performance. She successfully lifted 50 kg in the snatch and 61 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 111 kg, which earned her the well-deserved silver medal.
