Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced a new partnership with Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, who will serve as an MLB Ambassador. The collaboration aims to engage Indian sports fans through fan initiatives, original content, and marquee events, according to a press release.

Yadav, captain of the 2026 T20 World Cup-winning team, is known for his innovative batting style that has inspired a new generation of cricketers. He is exclusively managed by RISE Worldwide.

MLB also renewed its partnership with JioStar, India's leading media and entertainment company. This renewal ensures continued live broadcast of MLB games and content across linear and digital platforms in India, including the MLB All-Star Game, regular season games, and the World Series.

The combined reach of RISE Worldwide and JioStar gives MLB access to one of India's largest sports and entertainment ecosystems, creating new opportunities for fan engagement through content, experiences, and live game coverage.

Executives and Players Comment on the Partnership

Jeremiah Yolkut, MLB Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Events, said: “India is home to one of the most vibrant sports cultures in the world, and these partnerships allow us to connect with fans in a meaningful way. Suryakumar is one of the most recognized athletes in India, with an ability to connect with millions of fans across the country. Combined with our renewed partnership with JioStar, we are building a powerful foundation to further expand baseball's reach throughout the country.”

Suryakumar Yadav added: “One of the best things about sport is that it brings people together, no matter where they're from. I'm excited to partner with Major League Baseball and be part of its journey in India. I look forward to learning more about the game myself and helping more fans discover the energy, excitement and culture that make baseball something else.”

Upcoming Events and Content Plans

Through the partnership, Yadav will participate in MLB events in India and the US, including MLB All-Star Week in Philadelphia from July 10-14. He will help introduce baseball to new audiences and highlight similarities between baseball and cricket. He will also curate original content and fan engagement opportunities to bring baseball closer to Indian fans.

This announcement follows MLB's strategic partnership with RISE Worldwide, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, to support baseball's growth in India. The agreements build on MLB's expanding presence in the country through media distribution and year-round programming.
