Technical trial and inspection completed at Koidi village
Nalagarh is poised to become the first authorised paragliding site in Solan district following the successful technical trial and inspection of the proposed take-off and landing sites at Koidi village on Tuesday evening. Experts observed that the proposed site met the safety and technical standards required for paragliding activities.
Nalagarh SDM Narendra Ahluwalia, who also serves as the Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, confirmed that the site would become the district’s first authorised paragliding site after receiving final approval from the tourism department. The committee conducted a detailed survey, technical testing, and evaluation of the proposed site in various stages in accordance with required standards.
Approval process and development plans
The technical committee will prepare a detailed report and forward it to the tourism department for final approval. After obtaining departmental approval, the site will be developed in accordance with the recommendations of experts and prescribed standards.
Nalagarh MLA Hardeep Singh Bawa emphasized that road connectivity to the site will be strengthened to provide better facilities to tourists and adventure sports enthusiasts. He noted that the geographical location of the region makes it highly suitable for adventure tourism.
Strategic location to boost tourism
Due to its proximity to Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, a large number of tourists are expected to be drawn to the site. “This will give a new identity to tourism activities in the region,” Bawa added.
On the occasion, Gimnar Singh, an instructor at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, successfully completed a solo paragliding trial flight from the proposed take-off site, demonstrating the site’s viability.
