Sachin Yadav Secures Advanced Javelin Training Machine in New Delhi

India's rising javelin thrower Sachin Yadav will soon train with a high-tech machine. The Mission Olympic Cell has approved its procurement. This specialized equipment will be installed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

German-Designed Equipment for Indian Athletes

The Javelin Throwing Machine follows the design of the Kraft Trainings Gerät. German athletes have used this model for many years. It develops javelin-specific strength and improves release speed through weighted sled throws.

The machine features a sled weighing 3.8 kilograms. Athletes can load it with up to 10 kilograms for a maximum weight of 13.8 kg. They push the sled at an upward angle to simulate throwing motions.

Historical Context and Previous Installations

Uwe Hohn, the only athlete to throw over 100 metres, used this machine in the 1980s. Hohn also coached Neeraj Chopra earlier. India became the third country to acquire such equipment after Germany and China.

The Athletics Federation of India installed a similar machine at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in Patiala in 2021. Elite throwers like Neeraj Chopra and Shivpal Singh used it before the Tokyo Olympics.

Financial Approval and Additional Equipment

The Mission Olympic Cell cleared Sachin Yadav's proposal with financial assistance of ₹22 lakh. This funding covers advanced strength, conditioning, and recovery equipment. The javelin throwing machine serves as the centerpiece.

The approved proposal includes parallel bars, multifunction horizontal bars, and hanging rings. It also features medicine balls, hurdles, specialized shoes, and physiotherapy aids.

Sachin Yadav's Recent Achievements

Sachin Yadav, aged 25, belongs to the TOPS Development group. He trains at the JLN Stadium under coach Naval Singh. Yadav enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2025.

He won a silver medal at the Asian Athletics Championships. He also secured fourth place at the World Championships in Tokyo. Notably, he finished ahead of double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra and current Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.

Broader Approvals and Neeraj Chopra's Training

The 167th meeting of the Mission Olympic Cell approved a total of Rs 1.40 crore for athlete proposals. In related news, Neeraj Chopra has started his pre-season training in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

The Mission Olympic Cell approved a 32-day camp for Chopra under new coach Jai Chaudhary. Chopra recently parted ways with Czech legend Jan Zelezny. He will train in Potchefstroom until February 5 with government assistance of Rs 11.80 lakh.
