Why Did Tim Payne and His Wife Suddenly Become Popular on Social Media?

A few weeks ago, a popular content creator sparked a frenzy by asking fans to support unpopular football players, including Tim Payne, as they prepared to represent their nation. At the time, Payne had only 5,000 followers. Within hours, his following surged to a staggering 5.9 million.

While Tim Payne has not commented on his newfound fame, his wife Michelle Peters spoke to 1News about the experience. She said, "We were just chatting and he was like, 'I'm just getting lots of random follows'... and then he's like, 'what is this video? Can you translate it to me?'"

Michelle added, "I think the fact that I'm from Latin America, I can kind of understand where the whole buzz and like the emotion of it all is…"

She continued, "It was a bit overwhelming, but the support has just been so positive. All of this has been so positive in so many ways. You know, for New Zealand football, for Tim's career, for us as a family… Tim is actually really not phased too much about the whole social media… He's fully focused on football."
